Quick Tips : Little tutorial to learn how to load Custom Shapes in photoshop

Loading a Custom shape set can be a bit confusing, especially if you've never loaded a brush set before or are new to photoshop. this is a quick tutorial to show how it's done.


On Windows:

1: step one is to download the Custom Shape set . Make sure you save it somewhere that you will remember. For the purpose of this tutorial photoshop, we'll save it to the desktop.

2: It will most likely be a .ZIP file that you download. once it is finished, go to your desktop and open the .zip file. ine there, you should see a .CSH file. this is the set of Custom Shapes.

3: To make it easier to load in Photoshop, we need to put the .CSH file into the Custom Shapes folder. is should be located here:
 
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop\Presets\Custom Shapes

Drag and drop or copy and paste the file into that folder. Once the file is there it is ready to load in photoshop. if it isn't already open, star Photoshop.

On Program:

4: To load Custom Shapes, you need to have the Custom Shapes tool selected. it is the blobby shape with thr rectangle, circle and line tool.press U to select it.


5:  just across from the Custom Shapes tool on the toolbox Options, you will see the shape selector box. Open this by clicking on it, and then click on the little circle with an arrow in it. This opens the options for loading more shapes.


go down the list and select 'Load Shapes...' and you should see the Custom Shapes set that you just put in there. Select it and press Load.

6: Now, when you look at the Custom Shapes, you will have the new ones loades.

Cheat Notes

- Hold down SHIFT when creating shapes to constrain the proportions (keep them the correct size).

- Hold down SHIFT and ALT when creating shapes to constrain proportions and create from centre (try it to understand what i mean)
